Your safari will not be complete without a balloon ride over the Masai Mara, one of the greatest wildlife areas in Africa.  You are in another world as the balloon breaks the bonds of gravity and gently and silently lifts you above the ground.  Flying over the Mara is an experience that defies description.  Watch the shadows change shape as the sun rises.  For those of you with a fear of heights, don't worry, you are not even aware that you are high above the ground.  We suggest that you book as early as possible in order to obtain confirmed space and cost.

OPTIONAL RUSINGA ISLAND EXCURSION!

Spend a morning or afternoon on the largest lake in Africa - the magnificent Lake Victoria - fishing, birdwatching, visiting a fishing village or stone-age site.  Your hosts from Rusinga Island will pick you up by light aircraft for a one hour flight over the Masai Mara and the escarpment to their lodge situated on the banks of the lake.  Here you have choices - view one of the Leakey "digs" in the immediate area, have your boatsman take you to visit a fishing village, birdwatch  as you cruise around the smaller islands and, of course, fish for the great Nile perch.  Some of our guests have caught fish as large as 50 - 80 lbs!!  And if you do catch a fish, they will filet it and you can take it back to the lodge where your chef will prepare it for the evening meal.  Don't miss this great opportunity.
